Looking a little longer in the tooth than in their seventies and eighties heydays, the actors wore coordinating beige slacks with Pacino, 77, decked out in a wig to shoot the Netflix film.

Based on the 2003 book I Heard You Paint Houses by Charles Brand, the film explores the years Frank ‘The Irishman’ Sheeran spent as a mob hitman.

Sheeran was allegedly involved in the death of infamous mob boss Jimmy Hoffa, who went missing in July 1975 and was never found.

Played by DeNiro, 74, the film follows Sheeran as an older man looking back at his mob career.

It’s the first time the silver screen legends have worked together since 2008 crime thriller Righteous Kill.

They have also appeared in 1995 crime flick Heat and The Godfather Part II back in 1974 when Pacino reprised the role of mobster boss’s son Michael Corleone.

According to Scorsese, the film will have a different feel to his previous mob films Casino and Raging Bull.

He told The Independent: “I think this is different, I think it is.

“I admit that there are – you know, Goodfellas and Casino have a certain style that I created for them – it’s on the page in the script actually.

“The people are also older in The Irishman, it’s certainly more about looking back, a retrospective so to speak of a man’s life and the choices that he’s had to make.”
